Amazing watch

Amazing watches from the Watch and Jewellery Shop. On sale now (but not this one), online..

The face, hands and gears of this watch are cut from wood, the most improper material for precise mechanisms. Crafted somewhere in Eastern Europe in the early 1900's, it still works. Amazing.

A real Swiss pedigree

The Watch and Jewellery Shop can now offer the full range of Victorinox watches.

The Victorinox Swiss Army Timepiece division has two reasons to celebrate in 2009: the 125th anniversary of the company and the 20th birthday of the first Swiss Army Watch. Exactly 20 years ago, the first Victorinox timepiece for the North American market was produced in the Jura Mountain region of Switzerland. Entirely in the spirit of the parent company, the products from the Biel watchbrand stand for quality, functionality, and the Swiss inventive spirit. As homage to the 125th anniversary of Victorinox, two models from the Infantry Vintage Collection have been launched by Victorinox Swiss Army in special series: First, a Jubilee Edition, which will only be made during 2009, features special attributes that set it apart from the standard collection and comes in a very characteristic olive-green styling. And then a Limited Edition, which comes in a unique combination of strong Victorinox red with yellow-gold dial décor and is limited worldwide to only 125 individually numbered pieces. The caseback of both models is engraved with the Victorinox anniversary seal and the inscription "125 Years - Your Companion for Life." The Infantry Vintage Limited Edition mirrors the 125-year history and roots of Victorinox, the manufacturer of the "Original Swiss Army Knife": a precision tool where great value was placed on optimum function, reliability and performance in its design. In addition, Victorinox Swiss Army connoisseurs will enjoy a very special watch edition in late summer this year. To celebrate the anniversary, the watch and knife specialists joined forces to create a travel alarm. The design and opening mechanism is inspired by the legendary Swiss ArmyKnife and makes the typical pocketknife "click" when opened and closed.

All about Skagen

Every characteristic of Skagen watches remains consistent to the
founder's original vision year after year: Ultra-slim, signature mesh bands;
sleek yet classic designs; and subtle, inspiring colors and styles based on
the pinnacle of contemporary culture.

The Skagen brand began as a result of a personal passion to design beautifully
designed, high-quality objects at reasonable prices reflecting a creative
Danish spirit. Skagen Designs has become a major force on the European watch
market, instantly becoming the leading watch brand in Denmark and the second in Germany.

Today, Skagen Designs operates both European and Asia Pacific Offices with its
U.S. Worldwide Headquarters sitting in Reno, Nevada, where the owners and
their 75 employees enjoy a quality lifestyle. The number of employees around
the globe reached 160 last year. Seen as a category leader, the brand offers
more than 250 watch designs sold in more than 5000 retailers worldwide. Skagen
also operates 2 flagship stores in Denmark, one in the inspirational starting
point of Skagen, Denmark and the other in bustling, modern downtown
Copenhagen. Additionally, independent Skagen concept stores are located in
Tokyo, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan with new openings in Nagoya and Korea planned
for later this year.

Limited-Edition 20th Anniversary Collection

In honor of the Anniversary Year, a special Limited-Edition Skagen
Collection has been designed. The unveiling took place at the legendary BaselWorld event from March 26 to April
2, 2009 where Skagen distributors and dealers from around the world
experienced the brand design and innovation first hand.
The Skagen 20th Anniversary Collection features one-of-a-kind men's and
women's timepieces with the brand's signature, best-selling, ultra-slim
stainless steel mesh bands in silver. New details include modern, over-sized
designs with shiny cases and clean, round dials. Adding to its collector's
style appeal, for the first time in the brand's history, the case backs will
include the signature of Charlotte & Henrik Jorst, the designers. All will be enclosed in a
specially designed gift box.

About Skagen

On the northern-most peninsula of Denmark where the North and Baltic seas
merge, the picturesque beaches of Skagen offer respite from the commotion and
complexity of modern life. It is no wonder countless artists have made their
pilgrimage here to capture the stark, elemental beauty of the sea, the light,
the air and the sand.

Two decades ago, Copenhagen emigres Henrik and Charlotte Jorst founded Skagen
Designs on the same aesthetic ideals that inspired those artists. Skagen
produces everyday works of art that prize simplicity over embellishment and
harmony over extravagance. Merging natural, high quality materials with clean,
uncomplicated composition, Skagen epitomizes the beauty of Danish Design.

Boccia watches

We are often asked what is so special about Boccia watches, one of our best selling brands. Here is some information that should answer these questions.

  Boccia Watch Facts

Boccia watches are produced in Titanium, a totally hypoallergenic, nickel-free metal that is 30% stronger and 50% lighter than steel, and up to 5 times as expensive.

Titanium takes its name from the giants of Greek mythology who put up fierce resistance against the Gods of Olympus.

Boccia uses Swiss and Japanese movements.

Boccia watches are water resistant to a minimum depth of 3 bar (1 bar is 10 metres). Sports watches and chronographs are water resistant to a depth of 10 bar. The resistance is indicated on the back of the watch. Titanium is resistant to corrosion.

Boccia straps are leather or titanium as appropriate. The polished bracelets and bangles are also titanium. Boccia has perfected the art of polishing titanium.

Boccia gold plate is applied by hard gold plating of 3 microns. The gold plating is nickel free and exceptionally resistant to abrasion.

Boccia watches use mineral glass on all models except the "Outside" range, which has sapphire crystal glass.

Boccia watches carry a two-year international guarantee.

The name "Boccia" has a soft 'c' and is pronounced "Bochia."
